Sneak Peek! Parker and Jasmine’s Story…

From: Taylors of Copper Creek Book 4

Parker wandered toward her, his charming grin on full display.

It had been several weeks since they’d gone on that first date, and he was really laying it on thick.

For the kids.

That was what this was all about. For their benefit.

It was good for Victor and Tessa to see the two of them getting along. The kids knew Parker and Jasmine were married, even if they didn’t know all the private details about how the marriage had come about.

She shook off that thought. There was no need to dwell on what the kids thought as long as they were doing well in their new environment.

“Just wait until you see them,” Parker mused beside her.

His voice was like decadent, warm chocolate. Sweet and utterly irresistible. He was at her back, and she was even more attuned to his presence than ever before. They didn’t really touch much, not unless it happened naturally or they were around her family.

So why did she suddenly become tempted to turn around, grab him by his shirt, and yank him toward her to steal a kiss?

Probably because at the end of their one and only official date, Parker had nearly kissed her.

At least she’d thought he had.

She closed her eyes, reveling in the memory.

Jasmine leaned against the door of her childhood home and smiled up at Parker. She was a little loopy, but it was from too many restless nights and early morning visits to the bathroom only to dry heave. She was exhausted, but she’d had so much fun she didn’t want the night to end.

Parker pressed his palm against the door over her shoulder and leaned in so close their noses nearly touched. “What’s that smile for?”

She just lifted a shoulder. “If this was real, you would have brought me back here at the end of our date.”

“Yeah?”

Jasmine nodded. “Yeah. We’d have to be really quiet so my dad didn’t hear us and end up coming outside with a shotgun just to scare you off.”

He grimaced comically. “It’s a good thing we’re already married, then, isn’t it?”

She giggled, nodded, then bit her lower lip.

“What else would happen?” he murmured, his voice husky and so deliciously gravelly that electricity shot through her body all the way down to her toes.

She curled them inside her boots and tilted her head slightly. “You’d grasp my chin.”

His left hand rose, his fingers settling beneath it. “Like this?”

“Yeah,” she breathed.

“And?”

Her eyes searched his. Over the last couple of hours, they’d inadvertently gotten more and more intimate. Arms brushing when they walked side by side. Fingers grazing. His body pressed against her back when she couldn’t reach the book on a higher shelf. By the time they’d come back home, she was on edge and wanting so much more.

Maybe it was crazy, but that was where her head was at.

Jasmine opened her mouth, prepared to tell him just that when the deadbolt behind her clicked. She gasped and collided with Parker, his hands coming down to steady her at her hips just as the door opened.

“Parker! Jasmine! You’re back!” Tessa threw herself into Jasmine’s arms. “Lily is really fun, but I missed you.”
